«Dreamline» Marmor Rosa Portogallo und Urner Granit / 2021

*1968 ist gelernte Bildhauerin. In Altdorf betreibt sie ein Atelier. Sie stellt für öffentliche Auftraggeber, Unterneh- men und Privatpersonen Werke aus Stein, Holz und an- deren Materialien her. International wurde Bertha Shor- tiss mit Ausstellungen wie Trioptikon in Kandern 2013, mit dem Kunstraum Industriedenkmal Kieswerk, und durch die Teilnahme an Wettbewerben für Schneeskulp- turen bekannt. Ihre Wirkungsorte bei internationalen Bildhauersymposien für Skulpturen im öffentlichen Raum ausserhalb der Schweiz sind Österreich, Deutschland, Russland, Asien, Nord- und Südamerika, Türkei, Finn- land, Grönland und Irland.

Der Grund auf dem wir leben; Granit als Balance und Stabilität. Darauf entstehen Träume, die uns ins Frem- de, Unbekannte entführen – Traumlinien… Der obere Teil der Skulptur ist ein Rosa Portogallo, der tragende Teil ein Urner Granitfindling, der durch die Jahre in der Natur seine weiche Form erhielt. Die Gegensätze der beiden Materialien und deren Bearbeitung zeigen Un- terschiede und Kontraste, die gemeinsam eine neue Harmonie bilden. A rock to stand on. Granite provides balance and sta- bility. Upon it we can build dreams that whisk us into the unknown. The top part of the sculpture is made from Rosa Portogallo marble, the loadbearing part from a Uri granite erratic, shaped, smoothed and softened by years in nature. The contrast and differences between the two materials and the way they are worked come together to form a new harmony.

Born in 1968, trained sculptor. Runs a studio in Altdorf, creating works from stone, wood and other materials for public-sector clients, companies and private individuals. Shortiss gained international recognition with exhibitions in the Trioptikon in Kandern in 2013, in Kunstraum Kies- werk, and with her participation in snow sculpture com- petitions. She has produced sculptures for public spaces in Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Russia, Turkey, Finland, Greenland and Ireland as well as locations in Asia, North and South America.
