Vom Eingang ins wildromanti- sche Surenental schlängelt sich der Wanderweg abwechs- lungsreich entlang der Engel berger Aa. Nach einer kurzen Rast in der Alp Stäfeli, geht der zuvor komfortable Weg in ei- nen alpinen Pfad über, der Tritt- sicherheit erfordert. In der ge- mütlichen SAC Hütte angekom men, stellt sich die Frage: Über Nacht bleiben, einen wunder schönen Sonnenuntergang er- leben oder doch wieder (den gleichen Weg) zurückwandern.

This route starts at the entrance to the wild, romantic Surenen valley and winds gently along the River Aa. After a brief stop in the rustic Stäfeli Alpine pub, the path that started out so easy now becomes an Alpine trail that requires surefooted ness and care. Once you arrive at the rustic Spannort SAC hut, you’ll be faced with deciding whether to return home along the same path or to spend the night in the hut and experien- ce a gorgeous Alpine sunset.

Diese Passüberschreitung ist eine der eindrücklichsten Tages touren der Innerschweiz und ist Teil der via Alpina. Umgeben von einer intakten Naturland schaft fernab der Zivilisation wanderst du über den Surenen pass und wirst mit herrlichen Ausblicken auf den Urner See belohnt. Ein Stück der Route liegt auf dem Alpkäse-Trail und so laden entlang des Weges während dem Alpsommer mehrere Bergbeizli und Alp käserein zur Einkehr ein. Zurück geht's mit Taxi oder ÖV und gar ein Teilstück auf dem Schiff.

The hike over the Surenen Pass, part of the via Alpina, is one of the most impressive day tours in Central Switzerland, taking you into unspoiled nature, far from civilization. The climb over the Surenen Pass is rewarded with a magnificent view over Lake Uri. Part of the route follows the Alpine Cheese Trail, and during the summer several rustic Alpine pubs and Alpine cheese dairies tempt hikers with a range of tasty cheeses and other specialities. You can return by taxi and public trans port, or even partly by boat.
