Möchtest du von Engelberg aus die «Sonnenterrasse Engel- bergs» auf Brunni erklimmen, brauchst du ein paar kräftige Beine, wirst aber mit einem er- frischenden Bad im Härzlisee und einer grandiosen Aussicht belohnt. Unterwegs schlängelt sich der abwechslungsreiche Wanderweg durch Wälder und Weiden, passiert das Restau- rant Flühmatt und bietet optio- nal ab Ristis eine Abkürzung via Sessellift. Auf Brunni ange kommen laden Feuerstellen, Picknickplätze und die Hütte mit kalten und warmen Köstlich- keiten zum Verweilen ein.

To climb up to Brunni, Engel berg’s sunniest slope, you will need a pair of good, strong legs. But your efforts will be rewar- ded with spectacular views – and a refreshing dip in the Härz- lisee lake, if you like. This va- ried mountain hike takes you through woods and over mea- dows, passing the Flühmatt restaurant. You can take a short- cut by catching the chairlift from Ristis. Brunni is a wonder ful place to stay awhile, with its fire pits, picnic spots and the hut, which offers delicious hot and cold food.

Wenn auf einer Wanderung Wildtierbeobachtungen fast si- cher sind, dann auf dieser Tour, die durch zwei Jagdbannge- biete führt. Doch diese Erleb nisse musst du dir verdienen. Neben ausreichend Proviant sollte auch eine Portion «Kondi tion» mit im Gepäck sein, denn die Rundwanderung ist lang, anspruchsvoll und führt teils über schroffe alpine Wege zum höchsten Punkt, dem Rotgrätli. Nach einem Abstieg zur Ban nalp geht's über den berühmten Walenpfad (S. 40) zurück nach Engelberg oder ab Oberricken bach mit dem ÖV zurück.

If there’s one hike where you’re almost guaranteed to see wild animals, it’s this one, which leads through two game reserves. But you have to earn the experience. You must be fit to take on this hike, as the tour is long and chal- lenging and leads over some very rough Alpine paths to its highest point, the Rotgrätli. Don’t forget to pack plenty of provi sions! After the descent to the Bannalp, you follow the famous Walenpfad Trail (P. 40) back to Engelberg or take public trans- port from Oberrickenbach.
