In over 20 years of working for Zeitung Engelberg and Engelberg Magazin, it has been the contac t with people that has brought me most pleasure. I have been for tunate enough to meet many fascinating people through my job – unique people with unique stories to tell. I wou ld like to thank you, dear readers, for taking the time to read my ar ticles. I sha ll miss the stories and miss receiv ing your responses. I wish you a ll the ver y best!

In Engelberg we believe cu lture is nourishment for the sou l, which is why it has occupied such an impor tant position in v illage life since the 12th centur y. Engelberg’s Benedic tine abbey has stood since 1120, and today the Abbey’s guided tours and various events – such as the Ku ltur f rühstück break fast – of- fer v isitors a glimpse into its rich cu ltura l histor y. Stately Grafenor t manor, which a lso belongs to the Abbey, is a venue for experiencing cu lture and sharing knowledge. Since 1995 it has been run by the foundation Lebensraum Gebirge (Mountain Habitat) as a seminar, conference and meeting centre that hosts regu lar ta lks, events and exhi- bitions on the histor y of this high- A lpine va lley. Various other event organisers a lso shape Engelberg’s cu ltura l life: Hotel Wa ldegg, for ex- ample, will be exhibiting works f rom the Ranko and Monica Ta lov ic-Käser collec tion as par t of the “Ar t in Wa l- degg” series. The vernissage of the exhibition, which features work by ar tists f rom the former Yugoslav ia, will take place on 6 December 2014. Find out a ll about Engel- berg’s cu ltura l happenings at www. engelberg.ch.

The Ta l Museum is located in the “Wappenhaus” – a farmhouse dating f rom 1786/87 – and inv ites people to come and learn about ever yday life in Engelberg in the late 18th centur y.
