Um etwa 17.30 Uhr haben die vier Töngis 19 «Burdenen» zusammengebunden und in die Nähe des Heuseils getragen. «Jetzt kommt der schönste Teil der Arbeit», erklärt Toni. Die Jungmannschaft bleibt oben, hängt die «Burdenen» ans Heuseil und schickt sie talwärts. Unten hängt Toni sie ab und lädt sie auf die Bahn. Mit dem «Buiräbähnli», das gerne von Wanderern für Ausflüge zum Lutersee genutzt wird, fahren die «Burdenen» nach Rugisbalm hinunter. Unten hievt Pia die «Burdenen» von der Bahn. Sie kann sich amWochenende ausruhen. Für Toni geht es am Samstag und Sonn- tag mit anderen Gehilfen wieder auf die «Schanze». Denn, noch ist längst nicht alles Heu im Stall.

Für die Bergbauern sind die «Buiräbähnli» überlebenswich- tige Transportmittel. Wir nutzen sie zum Spass und haben mit der «Buiräbähnli-Safari» eine luftige Seilbahn-Wanderung über mehrere Etappen zusammengestellt. THE ROPE!

By around 5:30 p.m. the four Töngis have bound together around 19 bales and car- ried them over to the cable. “Now comes the best bit,” says Toni. The youngest members of the team stay up the top, at- taching the bales to the cable and send- ing them down the valley. At the bottom, Toni detaches the bales and loads them onto the Buiräbähnli, which is otherwise used by hikers heading for the Lutersee lake area. The bales then trundle down to Rugisbalm, where Pia heaves them off the cable car. At the weekend, she will be able to rest, but Toni will be going back up to the “Schanze” with a team of dif- ferent helpers. After all, not all the hay is home and dry yet!
