EMPFEHLUNGEN UND HINWEISE FÜR PERSONEN AUSSERHALB GESICHERTER ZONEN

Auslösung ist allgemein nur bei grosser Zusatzbelastung (z.B. Gruppe ohne Abstände) an vereinzelten Stellen im extremen Steilgelände möglich. Spontan sind nur Rutsche und kleine Lawinen möglich. Für ca. 1/5 des Winters prognostiziert. Ca. 7% der Todesopfer auf Touren und Varianten. Auslösung ist insbesondere bei grosser Zusatzbelastung vor allem an den angegebenen Steilhängen möglich. Grosse spontane Lawinen sind nicht zu erwarten. Für ca. ½ des Winters prognostiziert. Ca. 34% der Todesopfer auf Touren und Varianten. Auslösung ist bereits bei geringer Zusatzbelastung (z.B. Einzelperson) vor allem an den angege- benen Steilhängen möglich. Fallweise sind spontan einige mittlere, vereinzelt aber auch grosse Lawinen möglich. Häufig Alarmzeichen vorhanden (Wumm, spontane Lawinen). Für ca. 1/3 des Winters prognostiziert. Ca. 47% der Todesopfer auf Touren und Varianten. Auslösung ist bereits bei geringer Zusatzbelastung an zahlreichen Steilhängen wahrscheinlich, in allen Expositionen. Fallweise sind spontan viele mittlere, mehrfach auch grosse Lawinen zu erwarten. Für wenige Tage des Winters prognostiziert. Ca. 12% der Todesopfer auf Touren und Varianten. Spontan sind viele grosse Lawinen, auch in mässig steilem Gelände zu erwarten, Tallawinen. Wird sehr selten, im Mittel ca. einmal pro Winter prognostiziert. Triggering is generally possible only with high additional loads (e.g. groups without intervals) and on very few locations in steep extreme terrain. Only a few sluffs and small natural avalan- ches are possible. Forecasted for about 20% of the winter season. About 7% of the recreational fatalities. In some conditions, medium and occasionally large natural avalanches may occur. Frequently alarm signals exist (whumpfs, natural releases). Forecasted for nearly 33% of the winter season. About 47% of the recreational fatalities. Triggering probable even with low additional loads on many steep slopes of all aspect. In some conditions, many medium and several large natural avalanches are likely. Forecasted for a few days only of the winter season. About 12% of the recreational fatalities. Numerous large natural avalanches are likely, even in moderately steep terrain. Avalanches run to the valley bottom. Rarely forecasted, on average for one day of the winter season. Allgemein günstige Verhältnisse. Extrem steile Hänge einzeln befahren. Frische Triebschneeansammlungen in den extremsten Hangpartien möglichst meiden. Absturzgefahr beachten. Vorsicht, evtl. ungünstigere Verhältnisse im Hochgebirge.

Mehrheitlich günstige Verhältnisse. Vorsichtige Routenwahl, vor allem an Steilhängen der angegeben Exposition und Höhenlage. Alle extrem steilen Hänge der im Bulletin angegeben Expositionen und Höhenlagen sowie frische Triebschneeansamm- lungen meiden. Sehr steile Hänge vorsichtig und einzeln befahren. Teilweise ungünstige Verhältnisse. Kritische Situation. Erfahrung in der Lawinenbeurteilung ist erforderlich; optimale Routenwahl ist nötig. Sehr steile Hänge der angegebenen Exposition und Höhenlage meiden. Gefahr von Fernauslösungen beachten. Vorsicht bei Überschreitungen resp. Abfahrten in unbekanntem Gelände.

Ungünstige Verhältnisse. Akute Situation, u.U. auch Verbindungswege gefährdet. Viel Erfahrung in der Lawinenbeurteilung erforderlich. Beschränkung auf mässig steiles Gelände; Lawinenauslaufbereiche beachten. Fernauslösungen auch über grosse Distanzen sind typisch.

4 GROSS

Sehr ungünstige Verhältnisse. Katastrophensituation: Ortsteile gefährdet, evtl. Evakuationen.Verzicht auf Skitouren empfohlen.

Consequences and recommendations for recreationists outside of controlled ski areas

1 LOW

Generally favourable conditions. Ski one by one on extremely steep slopes. If possible avoid recent accumulations of wind-driven snow on extreme slopes. Beware of the danger of falling and of possibly unfavourable conditions in high alpine terrain. Favourable conditions, for the most part. Routes should be selected with care, in particular on steep slopes of the aspect and altitude indicated in the bulletin. Avoid all extremely steep slopes of the aspect and altitude indicated in the bulletin and recent accumulations of wind-driven snow. Ski one by one and with caution on very steep slopes. Partly unfavourable conditions. Critical situation. Experience in avalanche hazard assessment and in selecting good routes required. Avoid very steep slopes of the aspect and altitude indicated in the bulletin if possible. Pay attention to remotely triggered avalanches. Proceed with caution on traverses or when travelling into unknown terrain. Unfavourable conditions. Acute Situation. Lines of transport might be endangered. Sound experience in avalanche hazard assessment required. Stay in moderately steep terrain; beware of runout zones. Remotely triggered avalanches are typical, even over large distances. Very unfavourable conditions. Catastrophic situation. Parts of villages endangered, evacuations might be necessary. Travel in avalanche terrain not recommended
