«In Engelberg haben wir die Qual der Wahl, so viel- fältig ist das Angebot der Alpbeizli in unserem Tal. Mein Favorit ist das Café Ritz auf der Gerschnialp, wo ich mich gerne mit Freunden entspanne und genüsslich aus der reichhaltigen Speisekarte der Wirtsfamilie Christine und Andreas Häcki auswähle. Ich lasse mich jeweils gerne überraschen, was der Chef mit Team empfehlen und bin dann nie enttäuscht. Eines weiss ich immer im Voraus: Ich erhalte eine währschafte und feine Mahlzeit und gehe nie hungrig wieder ins Tal zurück, im Gegenteil... Die Gerschnialp ist seit meiner Kindheit einer meiner ‹Orte der Kraft› in unserem Tal, wo man sich nach einem kurzen Fussmarsch durch den erholsamen Gerschniwald oder einer kurzen Anreise mit der altehrwürdigen Standseilbahn rasch in einer vollkommen anderen Welt, nämlich auf einer speziellen Alp landet. «Ich finde das Restaurant Flühmatt so toll, weil es einen wun- derbaren Ausblick auf ganz Engelberg bietet und einen urchigen Touch hat. Die Gastgeberfamilie empfängt die Gäste immer sehr freundlich. Zudemgibt es hier einfach un- glaublich gute Älplermagronen! Ich gehe gerne zu Fuss hoch in die Flühmatt. Den Wanderweg im wunderschönen, schattigen Wald mag ich sehr – und sobald man oben an- kommt, eröffnet sich einem die erwähnte einmalige Aussicht. Auch mit dem Bike ist die Flühmatt ein lohnenswertes Ziel.» Lage: 1352 m ü. M. Erreichbarkeit: Über denWanderweg von Engelberg via Kloster- matte relativ steil aufwärts durch den Wald. “I like the Flühmatt restaurant so much because it has a rustic touch and provides a wonderful view across the whole of Engelberg. The family who runs it always gives guests a warm and friendly welcome. And they serve incredibly good Älplermagronen! I love walking up on the Flühmatt. I really like the hiking trail through the gorgeous, shady woods. And when you get to the top, that unique view I was talking about opens up before you. The Flühmatt is also a great mountain biking destination.” Elevation: 1352 m a.s.l. Access: Relatively steep uphill walk from Engelberg via the Kloster- matte and through the woods. Alternatively, take the Brunnibahn cableway to Ristis or the Buiräbähnli to Bord Best time to visit: Easily accessed at any time of year. It’s situated on Engelberg’s sunniest slope makes it an attractive destination.

“In the Engelberg Valley we are spoiled for choice as there are so many different Alpine inns. My favourite is Café Ritz on the Gerschnialp. I love relaxing there with friends and selecting some- thing delicious from the extensive menu offered by hosts Christine and Andreas Häcki. I usually try whatever the chef and his team recommend – and I’m never disappointed. There’s one thing I can be sure of: I will get a wholesome, exquisite meal and I certainly won’t leave hungry – quite the contrary. The Gerschnialp has been a source of energy for me ever since I was a child. You reach this very special alp – a completely different world – after a short walk through the tranquil Gerschni forest or an even shorter ride on the venerable funicular railway. The Gerschnialp is set amidst a beautiful landscape with panoramic views and a soothing sound- scape of tinkling Alpine cow bells.”

Elevation: 1256 m a.s.l. Access: A continual uphill climb on the hiking trail through the Gerschni forest or with the funicular railway from Engelberg. The guesthouse is approx. ten minutes’ walk from the Gerschnialp top station. You can also cover the distance by bike.

Lage: 1256 m ü. M. Erreichbarkeit: Über den Wander- weg durch den Gerschniwald oder mit der Standseilbahn ab Engelberg. Ab der Bergstation Gerschnialp ist das Gasthaus in ca. zehn Gehminu- ten erreichbar. Die Route ist zudem gut mit dem Bike zu absolvieren. Beste Jahreszeit: In jeder Jahres- zeit gut erreichbar. Im Winter liegt die Gerschnialp mitten im Schnee- paradies. Öffnungszeiten: Täglich. Über die Öffnungszeiten am Abend bitte telefonisch nachfragen.
