«Ich mag das Surenental, das neben dem Titlis und dem Brunni für mich so etwas wie das dritte grossartige Gesicht von Engelberg zeigt. Immer wieder spektakulär ist zum Beispiel – insbesondere im Frühsommer, wenn viel Wasser kommt – der Blick auf die Wasserfälle unterhalb des Spannortmassivs. Neben der atemberau- benden Landschaft sind die verschiedenen Alpbeizli aus diesem Gebiet nicht wegzudenken. Am Berggasthaus Stäfelialp kommt man von der Lage her und auch kulina- risch nicht vorbei. Auch wenn ich nicht so im gesell- schaftlichen Trend liege: Aber ich liebe Wurstsalat und Wurstkäsesalat – und jener in der Stäfelialp ist Welt- klasse. Als leidenschaftlicher Kletterer besuche ich immer wieder die Boulderblöcke rund um den Fuchsstein gegenüber dem Stäfeli. Die bequeme Variante ist mit dem E-Bike und einem Anhänger für die Bouldermatte dorthin zu gelangen. “I like the Surenen Valley. Alongside the Titlis and the Brunni it’s kind of the third “face” of Engelberg. The waterfalls below the Spannort mountains are a particularly spec- tacular sight – especially in early summer when there’s lots of water flowing. As well as breathtaking natural scenery, the valley has a range of wonderful Alpine inns. The Stäfelialp mountain guesthouse is conveniently situated and offers delicious food. I might not be up with the latest food trends by saying this, but the Stäfelialp serves some of the best sausage and cheese salads in the world. I’m passionate about climbing so I like to go bouldering at the Fuchsstein, opposite the Stäfeli. The most convenient option is to take an e-bike with a trailer for your bouldering mat. If you don’t happen to have one of those, you can hire one at the Stäfeli.”

Little Patagonia is characterized by its impressive landscape and the countless activities.

Elevation: 1393 m a.s.l. Access: The Stäfelialp is on the hiking trail from Engelberg to the Surenen Pass. It is around 1.5 hours’ walk from both the bottom station and the top station of the Fürenalp cable car. Also good by bike with a lot of action on the downhill.

Lage: 1393 m ü. M. Erreichbarkeit: Die Stäfelialp liegt am Wanderweg von Engelberg zum Surenenpass. Ab der Talstation Fürenalp sowie der Bergstation Fürenalp zu Fuss in ca. 1,5 Stunden erreichbar. Auch gut mit dem Bike erreichbar mit Action auf der Abfahrt. Beste Jahreszeit: Normalerweise von Mitte Mai bis Mitte Oktober geöffnet. Öffnungszeiten: Täglich in der Sommersaison.
